Advertised monthly prices for new customers, usually with autopay and paperless billing, before taxes. Sources: provider websites and broadband labels, checked October 21, 2026. Frontier prices from HighSpeedInternet.com; Starlink from HighSpeedInternet.com, September 30, 2026.

Provider by provider

AT&T Fiber

Symmetrical fiber with no data cap and included equipment. Ask what the price will be after the first year before you sign up. First year, with autopay and paperless billing. AT&T does not publish the price after year one. Equipment: gateway included. Bundle: discount on Fiber with an eligible AT&T wireless plan.

Xfinity

The 5-year price guarantee removes the usual cable price jump after year one. Upload speeds are far lower than fiber. Locked for 5 years with autopay from a bank account and paperless billing. Equipment: wiFi equipment included. Bundle: one Xfinity Mobile line free for a year.

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet

Easy setup, no installer and a long price lock. Speeds depend on the cell signal at your home and drop when the network is busy. With autopay. $35/mo with a T-Mobile voice line. 5-year price guarantee. Equipment: gateway included. Bundle: $15/mo less with a T-Mobile phone line.

Verizon Fios

Excellent fiber with real price guarantees. A $99 setup fee applies unless you also have Verizon Mobile. With autopay and paper-free billing, 3-year price guarantee. 1 Gig and up: 5 years. Equipment: router included. Bundle: setup fee waived and a monthly perk credit with a Verizon phone plan.

Spectrum

Low first-year prices and no data cap, but the price rises after 12 months. Put a reminder in your calendar. For 12 months. Spectrum does not publish the standard rate that follows. Equipment: modem free, WiFi router $10/mo (included with 1 Gig). Bundle: a free unlimited Spectrum Mobile line for a year.

Frontier Fiber

Some of the cheapest fiber prices in the country. Verizon closed its purchase of Frontier in early 2026, so check for bundle changes. For 12 months with autopay and paperless billing. 1 Gig and up comes with a 5-year price guarantee. Equipment: eero router included. Bundle: none advertised.

Google Fiber (GFiber)

What you see is what you pay, year after year. Only available in a limited number of cities. Flat price, no promo period and no price jump. Taxes and a local access fee are extra. Equipment: included. Bundle: none.

Verizon 5G Home

Worth a look if you already pay Verizon for your phone and no fiber reaches your street. With autopay and a Verizon phone plan; Verizon does not show the price without one. 3-year price guarantee. Equipment: router included. Bundle: the listed prices already assume a Verizon phone plan.

AT&T Internet Air

A wireless option where AT&T has no fiber. Compare it with T-Mobile and Verizon 5G Home at the same address. With autopay and paperless billing. Lower with an AT&T wireless plan. Equipment: all-Fi Hub included. Bundle: discount with an AT&T wireless plan.

Starlink Residential

The best choice in rural areas without cable or fiber. Elsewhere, wired internet is cheaper and faster. Plus equipment: $349 to buy, or a rental in some areas. Prices rose for new customers in May 2026. Equipment: $349 kit or rental. Bundle: none.

How to choose

  1. Check your address on the FCC National Broadband Map and on the providers' own sites.
  2. Prefer fiber when it is available: it is fast in both directions and prices are often guaranteed for years.
  3. Compare 5G home internet if you already have a phone plan with T-Mobile, Verizon or AT&T; the bundle discount can make it the cheapest option.
  4. Read the broadband label, which providers must show when you buy. It lists the intro price, the price after it and the monthly fees.
  5. Set a reminder one month before any promo ends. Our guide on lowering your internet bill explains what to do then.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out which providers serve my address?

Use the FCC National Broadband Map: enter your street address and it lists every provider that reports service there, with the technology and maximum speeds. Then confirm on the provider's own website, because the map can lag behind new buildouts.

Fiber, cable, 5G or satellite: what is the difference?

Fiber is the fastest and most consistent, with upload speeds as high as download. Cable is widely available and fast for downloads, but uploads are much slower. 5G home internet uses the cell network: easy to set up and often cheap, but speeds depend on your signal. Satellite, such as Starlink, works almost anywhere and is mainly worth it where nothing else is available.

What happens when the promo price ends?

Your bill goes up to the regular rate, which can be a big jump. Some providers do not publish that rate on their website. Providers that offer multi-year price guarantees, or no promo pricing at all, avoid that surprise.

How much speed do I need?

For streaming, video calls and working from home, 100 to 300 Mbps covers most households. Large families, heavy gamers and people uploading big files benefit from 500 Mbps or more, and from fiber's fast upload speeds.
